Bus Driver

Job Summary:

Safely and efficiently transport students to and from school, activities, and other designated locations, ensuring their well-being and adhering to all traffic laws and district policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate a school bus in a safe and responsible manner, following established routes and schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, checking for mechanical defects or safety hazards.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers.
• Enforce all traffic laws and school bus regulations.
• Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the transportation supervisor immediately.
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, routes, and student behavior.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and the transportation department.
• Clean and sanitize the bus interior as needed.
• Assist students with disabilities as required.
• Participate in required training programs and safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and school bus regulations.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline on the bus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with students of all ages and abilities.
• Ability to lift and assist students with disabilities as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to see, hear, and speak clearly.
• Ability to use hands and arms to operate the bus and its controls.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to [Weight] pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel.

• Part-time or Full-time
